Hello folks, given the southerly aspect of the lodges, are there any plans for fitting solar panels? :) They would be ideal as there are no shading issues with such open views and would save a lot of money in the long run.

This sounds like an excellent idea and one that we suggested years ago! I'm sure that our 'on the ball' Committee have already researched this please?

Just been looking at the Planning Application made by the Hotel for Apartments at the Marina site - we notice that they're including Solar Panels.

It's been a couple of years since I suggested this and wonder if there has been any progress? I'm sure there are financial incentives for them to be fitted from Energy Saving Trust. It would help reduce electricity bills, which is always a bone of contention.
I think a feasibility study should be carried out to find out whether a collective energy storage solution or individual lodge(s) solution is more beneficial.

We have looked into this as well as other energy saving initiatives. Unfortunately, unlike residential energy projects the commercial side of the trust is not so favourable and quite significant investment is needed from our end to which we simply don’t have currently the resources available. We have taken advantage of any opportunity to enhance our carbon footprint and to keep up with technology for example the latest rapid chargers for electric vehicles on site and energy efficient public lighting. We shall keep an eye out for any opportunities in the future.
